ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Sackville:
A Visual Snapshot

Indu Varma ©2022

The installation, 'Sackville: A Visual snapshot' features images of Sackville's history on ceramic tiles set into a contemporary motif of a ship. I present to the people of Sackville, images from the past that they can relate to.

These images are transferred by the photolithography technique. Through this mural, I bring to the forefront images of the unique landscape of Tantramar marsh, the history of shipbuilding, of foundries, of educational institutions, of businesses, and of the various groups who inhabited this area.

As a multidisciplinary artist, I have been painting, printmaking and making ceramic sculptures for fifteen years.

I am proud to be a Sackville resident since 1969. This town has nurtured and sustained me for more than five decades. This town is very dear to my heart. This project is my way of paying a homage to this town.
