This map shows the early Acadian settlements in the Beaubassin area in 1750.

Beaubassin was an important Acadian settlement founded in 1671-72 by Jacque Bourgeois and some other settlers from Port Royal.

Its location on the isthmus of Chignecto was chosen strategically. It was situated at the head of Bay of Fundy overlooking the Cumberland Basin.

This area was a part of major trading network between New England and Nova Scotia. It played a significant role in the development of trade and commerce.

The Acadians farmed, raised livestock, and were involved in shipbuilding activities.

Beaubassin played a significant role in the territorial disputes between the English and French in 17th and 18th century.
